“Anamorphic Light Bulb”
Site-specific Installation on Stairs (Gaffer’s Tape on Carpet)
I created this installation with Aneleise Ruggles. I’d always wanted to try installing something flat on the main staircase at the Arsenal Center and we came up with the idea of doing an anamorphic illustration. The light bulb was drawn in Adobe Illustrator, projected, and then we went to town drawing it out on the carpet with white gaffer’s tape. As you shift perspective, the illustration morphs into a more abstract line drawing. There is one point when you first walk in the building – “the ah-ha! spot” – at which you can see the light bulb in it’s original form.
